Biography:
Currently retired, David Sherick has held several posts in both the UK and overseas. Most recently he was the Director of Risk Management and Legal Services within Thus Plc. Amongst his responsibilities was Fraud Control and Revenue Assurance. Previously he held the positions of Director Group Fraud Control & Revenue Assurance for Cable & Wireless plc (C&W) worldwide, Regional Chief of Internal Audit and Security Asia Pacific (C&W) and Chief of Group Internal Audit & Security for Hong Kong Telecommunications Ltd in Hong Kong. All three posts were held concurrently. He has had extensive experience in general audit, and specialised for many years in the audit of computerised systems and more particularly in recent years has further specialised in Telecoms Fraud and Revenue Assurance.
David Sherick is a Fellow of the Institute of the Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has held several posts at various academic institutions in both United Kingdom and Hong Kong. David has also been an examiner of various professional bodies, being responsible for the auditing and investigation papers.
Heis a Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and held the post of North Pacific Regional Director for four years. He also served on the Advanced Technology Committee and The International Relations Committee. Mr Sherick is also a Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
In the field of Telecoms Fraud, David Sherick was the first Chairman and founder member of the Forum for International Irregular Network Access (FIINA). FIINA's membership is open to national and private telecommunications carriers as defined in International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT) regulations under the Recognised Private Operating Agency (RPOA). The organisation (FIINA) is a forum where the International Carriers discuss and consider ways to combat telecoms abuse (fraud).
He also had a career in law enforcement having progressed through the ranks to become a Senior Superintendent in the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force.
