Rev. James Caldwell (deceased)was the father of Miller Caldwell. Miller is fulfilling a life long ambition of seeing his father's story of their ancestry relating to the Bard, Robert Burns, finally being published.James, born in 1916, was the oldest of five boys whose father died when he was 11. Since childhood he had always wished to be a minister. He served as the Moderator of Forfarshire Presbytery in the 50s and in the 80's as the Moderator in Perthshire and Kinross. He was caulk-handed (left handed) and could never tie his tie or his shoelaces. No wonder he wore the clerical collar so often! His golf was bizarre but he enjoyed playing so many shots and could produce artistic watercolours of merit. A non-swimmer but Chair of the Arbroath Lifeboat Fund. A fine baritone who sang in choirs at home and in the States, he left behind not only his memoirs and paintings but songs too.A very worthy life. Glad to have been his son.
