Biography:
Leslie was born in Addiscombe, East Croydon and evacuated at the beginning of World War 2, first to Brighton and then to Bideford, North Devon. He ended up in a rather primitive boarding school and enjoyed it.
National Service in the Royal Navy followed then university and work as a minister of religion. His work took him to different parts of this country and to South India.
In his early forties, he took an administrative post in the National Health Service, which may have had something to do with this book. For the rest of his working life, he combined running his own business with conducting non-religious ceremonies for the British Humanist Association, work which he continues to do. With typical modesty, he describes himself as a ‘Master of Ceremonies’.
When he gave up his business, he moved with his second wife, Wendy, to Dorset, a move which is shortly to be celebrated in another new novel entitled ‘It’s Another World’. They live as quietly as is possible, under the constant threat of invasion by some of their shared six children and eighteen grandchildren.
