Her first book, an adventure story, was written at the tender age of ten to amuse my friends who had been brought up on the delights of Enid Blyton and The Famous Five. She continued writing short stories until her twenties and many were published in magazines and newspapers. It wasn't until her son was born and after she'd written a series of children's stories just for him, that she started to write books.
Many of her mystery books have been published abroad. she writes in many genres, murder mysteries, children's and short 'tales of the unexpected' stories, she has even had a 'crack' at writing for television: EastEnders (A BBC television 'soap-opera') being the most recent, but Grains Of Sand is, what she terms, her first novel.
She has lived most of her life in Southport and so the history of the town is as authentic as she can make. However the Mason's, the people mentioned in the book, and circumstances are pure fiction.
