Born and educated in Berlin, he left Germany in 1933 at the age of 18 when Hitler came to power
Realising his early ambition to enter the hotel industry, he succeeded in making a career for himself in France and Italy.
Peter Hart lives in London with his wife Lili, a writer, whom he married in 1945 whilst still in the Army. They have one daughter, Monica.
In 1947 together with his wife he created the very specialised Hotel Accommodation Service (Hotac), which he headed successfully until his retirement in 1979.
He is now a free-lance writer and pursues his hobbies of photography, history of art and opera.
