Synopsis

Ben is very lonely as an only child and craves a brother or sister. He doesn't find it easy to make friends, until a strange boy rescues his ball for him. An instant friendship develops.

It is the summer school holiday so Ben is thankful of the friendship of Sam and he plans different activities and adventures for them each day. Somehow Sam seems to creates havoc but much to Ben's surprise always comes out unharmed and at times even saves Ben from further harm.

Things about Sam start to puzzle Ben, as he notices that nobody else seems to be seeing Sam. He won't let Ben ever touch him, nor will he eat or drink anything. Ben's mother thinks Sam is a figment of his imagination.

At the end of the holiday Sam admits the truth to Ben, that he's a ghost and has been sent to help Ben over this lonely time. Ben is bereft thinking he's loosing his friend but Sam convinces Ben all will be well.

It is when he returns to school, he sees who he takes to be Sam, but finds out it is his twin brother. A lasting and happy friendship develops thanks to Sam's intervention.
