The horrendous happening in Delius Close left everyone of the same mind - Oscar Aspinal was a very nice man who did not deserve to die like that. Nineteen people were living in the Close at the time and many were of advanced years, paid up members of society’s Third Age. This story tells of some of these elderly folk and their encounters within the Close during the month leading up to that fateful night in December 1996.
Brenda Rose Nair’s novel is a delightfully gentle saunter through suburbia with tremendously convincing characters and dialogue, but with a more serious undercurrent rearing its ugly head as the narrative progresses. The reader will long remember its ending . . . . . .
A most entertaining story.
