CHAPTER TWO: THE DRAGON.


The Children had returned home tired, hot, and sticky after a day spent in exploring the delights of the valley. Aunt Binny sent them upstairs to shower before supper. With five boisterous children staying in Aunt Binny's house, showers were a noisy, messy business, but very reviving. By the time they had dressed and mopped the floor, (Aunt Binny insisted on that) they were starving, and could have eaten a horse, although as Andrew remarked: that 'we ought to eat those wretched geese. It would serve them right.'

As a rule, the two little ones were sent to bed soon after supper, and the others an hour later.

'Children' said Aunt Binny, 'after such a hot day, there will be a beautiful sunset, and mist in the valley. It will be something you won't see very often; Something to remember. Just this once you can stay up late, and watch from the hill.'

Growing children are not usually bothered about beautiful scenery. The charms of Dragon Valley lay in all the wonderful things there were to see and do. Rolling, fishing, hiding
