INTRODUCTION

Across the face of the earth, within nations, cultures, and language groups, the schemes of Satan, the enemy of our souls, are in operation to enslave. Two major strategies that still afflict peoples of the former U.S.S.R. were put in place during the communist era:

  1. Breakdown of the family; and
  2. Spiritual bondage.

The former totalitarian governmental structures that ruled over these nations systematically established programs and statutes that took the hearts of the children away from their parents and the parent’s hearts away from the children, causing destruction to integrity of the family, God’s most fundamental building block for society.  In related programs and statutes, nearly all of the citizens of these nations were deceptively led into spiritual bondage through the introduction of idolatry of state in the name of patriotism.

As we have lived with and ministered in and among these peoples, it has become apparent to me that these two areas of enslavement, common to all the former U.S.S.R. and satellite nations, are still in place. They continue to function as major strongholds in individuals and church structures.  These strongholds prevent most from moving into a deeper intimacy with the Holy Spirit.  Unless these blockages are removed, Jesus’ headship over existing local church structures is restricted and individual believers cannot move forward beyond the boundaries of their unconfessed and unrepented idolatry, unforgiveness and judgments.  While there are many barriers to personal holiness and righteousness, these two areas, like invisible bulletproof glass across the discipleship pathway, remain largely undiscovered.

If we are going to see the church arise in holiness, purity, and power in these nations, and individuals reach their earthly destinies to fulfill Christ’s call on their lives, we must see families restored and past idolatry of the state purged from their spiritual inheritances.

This book is a lifeline of truth and love to those who were exposed to and entangled in the schemes of Soviet Communism either directly or from previous generations.  To be rescued we must first realize that we are afflicted.  Then we must enter into God’s rescue plan through the Blood of Christ being applied to the situation of our bondage.  We will explore God’s Word, particularly His commandments and laws, to evaluate our spiritual condition today in the light of our present and past activities and those of our family.  Then we will examine the spiritual pathway that Jesus has given us to freedom from spiritual bondage: confession, repentance and forgiveness through His precious blood. With conviction and understanding you can travel this pathway to take advantage of God’s rescue plan for your life using the sample prayer ministry presented at the end of Part I and Part II of the book.

Turning to the first chapter you will begin to hear the collective hearts of thousands that have come to us for help from God.  Their homes are in Almaty, Ulan Bator, Kiev, Yerevan, Moscow, Bucharest, Budapest, Minsk, Khabarovsk, Bratislava, Belgrade, Odessa, Warsaw, Wroclaw, St. Petersburg, Crimea, Siberia, Cluj Napoca, Rostov-on-Don, formerly secret defense plant cities like Svetlovodsk; and countless villages, smaller cities, and rural areas scattered across the former  U.S.S.R.. This is one-quarter of the land mass of the world!  Their cries for help, understanding, healing and restoration echo those of the hundreds of millions we’ve never met.  In their stories we have heard their silent screams and seen the despair and helplessness that wrinkles faces, greys hair, stoops shoulders and curves backs long before old age should come.

Join in now as we begin to unravel the mystery of the communist tragedy. Learn how God has redeemed the lives of tens of thousands in the former Soviet Union and given them a chance to make their lives count for something of lasting value.  Read on to discover how He can do the same for you.
