     In Jan The Landsman an out of work villager scavenges fuel for a wood burning stove and contrasts his world with that lived by all around him; Reservation concerns an experts’ assessment of a newly discovered work of art; A mirror offers companionship and a means to talk through life’s’ problems in Silent Witness; the story Daddy’s Girl reflects on a political candidate being imposed upon a constituency and a young person’s search for her own life; in Out of Harm’s Way a woman is stopped by New York traffic police who do not know that a baby has been saved from a mother’s suicide; a vicar is glad to speak to his congregation about a parishioner who has just passed away, Open Book; in Annie’s Secret a pensioner is visited by Military Police investigating the disappearance of a nuclear bomb; Another’s Touch recounts how a father deals with a daughter meeting a friend of his and the effects upon her of his dissolved marriage; a young girl’s joy at having a brother is told in A Sister and Brother, Again; and finally, in Be Careful, Babe! an office romance doesn’t have all the stars behind it.
