INTRODUCTION
Will I fall in love?
Will I find a person who can make me happy?
Is the time right to have a relationship?
Are we right for each other?
You probably had a question like this in mind when you picked up this book. I hope it will help guide you to your answers.
The Lovers’ Spread: A Tarot Guide to Relationship Compatibility has been designed so that anyone can use it. You don’t need to be an expert on the Tarot (although I hope that experts will also enjoy this book), all you need is a deck of Tarot Cards and off you go.
If you don’t have a deck of Tarot Cards, you probably know someone who does. It is surprising the number of people who have an interest in fortune telling. Perhaps a friend of yours bought a deck out of curiosity during their teens, or perhaps their interest in the Tarot runs deeper than that?
If you don’t have easy access to a deck, you should be able to find one at your local bookshop, most are happy to order a deck for you if there isn’t one on their shelves.
This book gives a layout (or spread) for the Tarot Cards, which can help to divine the dynamics in play in a relationship, or for a potential relationship. In other words, it gives an oracular method of discovering whether one person is suited to another.
As with all fortune telling methods, the way you approach the process of casting, reading, and interpreting the messages of the cards can affect what information they will actually give. If you treat it as a game, they’ll play with you. If your thoughts are unfocused or clouded by motive, they’ll likely be obscure and abstruse in return. Approach the cards with a clear head and a calm heart, and you’ll probably get an open, clear message in return.
Of course, sometimes it is not right for us to know the way of things, so be aware that the reading you get may be literal truth (rather than a metaphorical or symbolic meaning), or the cards and your subconscious may be using alternate interpretations to lead you astray. This is why it is frequently useful to seek the advice of a professional Tarot Card Reader who will be used to dealing with divination and Oracle.
For the most part, you should get out of the reading what you put in.
Below I’ll outline the spread, the order in which the cards are laid, and the individual meanings of the cards.
It is then your turn to interpret how the meanings interact, in order to build up a whole picture: one that shows what part you are likely to play in any relationship that evolves; what part the other person is likely to play in any relationship that evolves; how you are likely to interact with one another; and whether there are any outside influences or people who could cause problems for the relationship.
Enjoy.
