Synopsis

Jan Kuchinsky was born in Latvia. In 1937 he arrived in England to study at a British University. He had completed one year when the British Secret Service recruited him due to his flawless command of English, German and Russian and sent him to Germany. There he served in a U-boat and worked in the Berlin headquarters of the Nazi Party.

In 1944 he was smuggled out of Germany and brought back to England, where he was recognised by His Majesty the King at Buckingham Palace and awarded the O.B.E.

General Sir Gerald Kimberley, the Chief of the General Staff, told Jan;- "No one in the history of the security services has ever achieved what you achieved during the war, for the benefit of the British People. You and only you, provided the accurate information that allowed the R.A.F. to destroy the V1 & V2 rockets, the U-boats headquarters, the supply and the fuel depots. Your splendid work in our Embassies in Moscow and Budapest helped us to pin-point most of the saboteurs who operated in this country, and for that we all thank you."

Jan was promoted by Sir Gerald to Brigadier and became the commander of the unit he had served in during the war.

Jan's devotion and loyalty to United Kingdom earned him a prominent page in the history of the British Secret Service.
