Christine Parkinson launches her new book with great Radio Interview
Apr 3rd 2004
Christine Parkinson who has just published her second book with us, 'The Desert Will Rejoice', had her first Radio Interview on the 28th March. We asked her to tell us how it went. Here is what she said. Nice one Christine - keep up the good work on both the projects and the books!

The interview was on Radio WM, a local arm of the BBC, which operates from BBC Pebble Mill. They do a two-hourly chat show every Sunday morning (7-9am) for the Christian community in the West Midlands, with 100,000 listeners. I have been using them for the last 20 years to publicise various events I organise (for which I send a press release to the presenter, Rev. Michael Blood). They also ask me to do a "Thought for the Day" every 6-8 months - a 3-minute reflection of three events in the news the previous week. I was booked to do Thought for the Day on 28th March, with an interview later in the show on whatever I wanted, so I opted to use it to launch and publicise my latest book. Michael had previously interviewed me when my first book came out and had read it from cover to cover before the interview - quite an achievement! Although he had only received my second book a few days before the 28th, he had also read most of it, so that his questions were very pertinent. He had picked out most of the key points in the book in advance, to ask questions to draw out the story.

Whilst waiting to go on air, his assistant looked at the book and noticed reference to your website. There was a computer, with internet connection in the studio, so he immediately went on line, found the website and the page describing my two books, and put it onto a monitor in front of the interviewer, so that he could see it whilst he was talking to me. I was quite impressed. I used the event to publicise the website, the two bookshops who have so far agreed to stock my book and the date of the book signing in one of them.
