The
biggest shock of the evening came when I realised, not more than two hours into
the launch, that all the books were sold out, which left me high and dry for
the rest of the evening. (Note to authors: make sure you order more than enough
books...you'll regret it if you don't.) So now, people have my book and, to
be honest, I'm kind of nervous about people reading it, but I'm kind of happy
as well. (As an author, hopefully that makes sense to you.) As well as being
nervous, I feel like this is why I wanted to write a book in the first place;
to get my community buzzing (or that was the initial dream).
So, after some major schmoozing, I managed to talk my way into my local CD shop, as well as my local WHSmith. And with a few readings over the next two weeks, as well as a possible appearance on a country-wide book review show, my 5000 flyers (down to my final 100 or so), more copies of the soundtrack and the power of word of mouth, have taken this project to a place I could only dream.
Take a little perseverance, a little hope and a paragraph of good luck and look where it has put me. You'll still be broke and have to suffer the intolerable Authors Online staff (We love his humour - Ed) , but, people will know you exist in the world and that should make it all worth while! - Enakhe O
