A LITTLE PERSEVERENCE BY ENAKHE O
Oct 1st 2004
Armed with 5,000 flyers with my name and book title on the front, I went into the big old world of marketing like a Deer caught in the headlights. My eyes were wide open, amazed at how interesting it was to see people reading the flyer, etc. But I knew that deep down, it would take more than just flyers to make people aware of my presence. And that's where the real fun began.

Due to the fact that I had no money (a term not lost on you independent authors hopefully), I had to do everything at a grass roots basic level. In the beginning, this was not fun in anyway, shape or form. Because I already had to pay the EXTORTIONATE Authors OnLine prices (only joking Richard), my bank account was an interesting sight to see.

To raise true awareness of the book, I decided to arrange a Launch Party to let people know what I'm doing something that they may possibly be interested in. And although the launch has not taken place yet (13th October), the buzz from people is positive and lets me feel hopeful about publishing this book.

If, like me, you were absolutely overwhelmed when you got your book in the post, then you know what I'm going through but, at the end of the day, I'm glad that the path I have chosen to publish has worked out for me as I now have full control over everything I do and I love that feeling. And with such cool people like Richard and Wendy (who ARE the coolest people in the world) I knew that I couldn't go wrong. Hey, I'll even predict that my next book will definitely be with you guys.

Trust me, a little perseverance goes a long way.

Viva la independent.
