Recently published under our imprint Kempton Marks, crime mystery Beyond Pendowry Water by Enid Michael is promising to be a book of great interest at the forthcoming Daphne Du Maurier Festival of Arts and Literature in Fowey, Cornwall. The dates for this festival are May 6th-15th and it is set in picturesque Fowey and neighbouring towns, being a sparkling mix of star names, guided walks, talks, drama and plenty of free entertainment. Try and make it if you can.
Enid’s enthralling book is itself set in Fowey, though she has named it Trefoy. Like a lot of stories it has taken a few years to come to fruition. It is greatly anticipated by many in the area and equally in her home town of Denshaw near Oldham. Enid admits to “talking to anyone” so we expect sales to form a large wave, rather than a ripple! Her 245 page novel culminates in a huge flooding, down a river valley ,the rushing water sweeping all in its path.(the date of the main action is in the 1950’s.)It was virtually finished a few years ago, well before the news headlines of the Boscastle floods last autumn .Enid had a sudden feeling of déjà vu when the television pictures hit the screen
“I could hardly believe it,” she said, “it was as if my book had come to life.”
'Beyond Pendowry Water' is now on sale at £9.99. It tells of a crooked solicitor taking on another man’s identity and trying to divert the proceeds of a Cornish Estate to his advantage. Old adversaries appear and………..now read on!
We can strongly recommend this psychological thriller, and if you are a Cornwall fan, it really is a Must. Enid Michael will be attending the Daphne Du Muarier Festival, so those visiting will be able to chat with her about her love of yachts and how they gave her inspiration to write her latest book.
