SAD DEATH OF BRAVE AUTHOR
Oct 1st 2005
It was with deep regret that we learned of the sad death of David Henderson at the age of 72. He leaves a wife and two sons and our sincere condolences go out to them. David died on 12th Oct 2005. His book ‘We in Dreams’ has met with great success and seems to explain the man himself.

When David first approached us, he knew he was dying in the cruel clutch of cancer, yet did not tell us then. He expected no special treatment and wanted our respect for his work not to be swayed by his predicament. Speaking with him was a sheer joy as we went through the different phases of publishing and even then, it was obvious he was a thoroughly gentle man.

The knowledge of his illness was brought to us in total confidence, by an obvious dear friend, Don. He wanted everyone to know of David’s work and explained the situation carefully as it was clear he was upset. His purpose was to make sure details of this book were made available far and wide. He was then joined by another close friend, Ron. Together, they reported to us regularly as they both set about making David’s work known and be able to go back to him and report their achievements. Neither saw this as a task, but as a loving gesture towards a dear friend, who had earned the right to be recognised as an ‘author extraordinaire’. They explained how David had struggled with the plight he was in – fighting the dreaded cancer – in an attempt to finish his work.

In spite of swearing everyone to secrecy (a typical brave act for someone fighting the odds), he did eventually have to speak with us. He wanted to know about his royalties in the event of his passing, he needed to make sure they went to his beloved wife, Patricia.

David, may you rest in peace out of the dreadful pain that engulfed you. You will always be remembered for your gentle manner, your brave determination and your love of family. It was a privilege to work with such a courteous and caring author.
