Winston,
who was born in the southern USA, was a naturalised British citizen who had
lived in this country for the past 30 years. A normally fit and healthy man,
he owned and operated a small gymnasium in his home town of Taunton. He was
apparently away on a visit to Wales when he had a massive heart attack and died.
He had no relatives in the UK and only a brother in the US, whom he had not
been in touch with for some time. It therefore took a while for friends to discover
his death and make the necessary funeral arrangements. We were only informed
of his death in the last week.
Winston was a larger than life character, who had little time for convention
and our editor well remembers turning heads at an excellent day out at the 2004 London Book Fair,
as he accompanied a bejewelled and tattooed Winston, dressed for
a motor cycle meeting, amongst the stands of suited and booted literary world
representatives.
With a passion for literature and writing Winston crafted his masterpiece 'Serenity' with great pride. Undoubtedly one of the best pieces of literature published by Authors Online we unfortunately can only lament that he never finished the sequel. We'll mourn the loss of great character prematurely taken from us.
