Barry George, the man imprisoned for 8 years for the murder of BBC presenter Jill Dando in 1999, was today freed after a month long retrial. Authors OnLine have long campaigned for this miscarriage of justice to be rectified. Ever since our editor's then wife interviewed him in prison back in 2000 claiming he wasn't capable of committing the murder, we have suspected George's innocence. And when S C Lomax's manuscript landed on our desk in 2004, we had no hesitation in publishing his brilliantly presented argument proving it, Who Killed Jill Dando? The case of Barry George - A shocking miscarriage of justice - The paperback rights of the book were subsequently sold to Blake's Publishing (2006). It can be purchased from all good bookshops and Amazon.co.uk under the new title of Justice for Jill: How the Wrong Man was Jailed for the Murder of Jill Dando
Congratulations to Barry George who is tonight tasting his first moments of freedom. We hope now that for the sake of Miss Dando's family the authorities concentrate on tracking down the true killer after 8 wasted years.
