Well
done to Chris Walsh and Hazel Roberts (Hazel’s Homegrown) who both reached the prestigious final of The Brit Writers' Awards as two of the six final nominees in the Non Fiction Category. Chris entered 'When Will They Ever Learn', whereas Hazel entered her new, as yet unpublished book, ‘Preserves’ - That's no mean achievement from 21,000 original entrants, and shows the extremely high standard of our authors' writing. You have made us proud!!
The winner of the non-fiction category was 'Six Women on Twelve Walks' by 'Katherine Locke', and the winner of the overall prize of £10,000, a publishing contract and film deal was 'Catherine Cooper' for her Children's Book, 'The Golden Acorn', to be published by Infinity and due out in August.
Several of our authors entered the competition, and it is extremely gratifying that two of them have actually made it though to the final six. In fact you could say we are over the moon!
The awards ceremony was held on Thursday 15th July at the O2 in London and was attended by both Chris and Hazel, as well as several members of our Staff. It was a impressive evening (if a little long!!) with many celebrities and high executives from the industry present, including Sir Terry Pratchet and Sir Roger Moore.
