Congratulations to Susan Sexton who has just scooped the runner up award in the fiction section of the David St John Thomas Charitable Trust Self-Publishing Awards for her excellent novel, Heirs of Wind and Water.
This is as far as we are aware, apart from the Britwriters award which also includes unpublished work, the only self-publishing award in the UK. So it's no mean feat.
The David St John Thomas Trust hold two Annual Competitions - The Self-Publishing Awards are open to anyone who has self-published a book during the preceding 18 months with a total award of £2,250 and the Anthology Trophy, an annual award to writers' groups for Anthologies published in the last 18 months. They have been doing so for the past 19 years -www.dstjthomascharitabletrust.co.uk/4.html - although don't be put off by their website which is probably not their best showcase. I think they are more interested in the printed word!
So well done Susan! And anybody who is interested she has a forthcoming booksigning on Tuesday 7th June at Waterstones, Newport on the Isle of Wight. Drop in a buy a copy, you won't regret it.
